At a slight tangent,  I was listening to a radio program rebroadcast by the=

ABC here in Oz yesterday, where I found out that Hedy Lamarr along with a=20
musician (whose name I forget, George ......) invented and were granted a=20
US patent for a type of mechanical spread spectrum technology for=20
torpedoes.=20

Unfortunately they used the wrong type of analogy in explaining it to the=20
US Navy, that the navy thought it wacky and shelved the plans for some=20
years until semiconductors became available.

SST was based on synchronised pianola sheet mechanisms.
