Wow! That is a story! I am amazed! I only know of one comparable story=20 but from a different angle. A technoid friend from way back - maybe 30 years ago - in a rented=20 house, had to install a fridge with an ice-maker. It had a 'hot-tap'=20 setup to connect to the water line. You wrap a connector around the=20 cold water line and then drill through it. Back out the drill bit and=20 now you have tapped the water line to provide water to the fridge ice maker= .. Just one problem here - when he was done, he smelled natural gas filling=20 the kitchen. He had drilled into the gas line, not the water line. To=20 fix it, he had to yank the entire kitchen cabinet counter drawers and=20 all and sink away from the wall to get to the gas line.
