It gets even better: A friend of mine did research in Germany on 1000V PV-systems. These systems= have their own problems; the large system voltage can create ion migration and cause the panels to drop their performance (Po= tential Induced Degradation). Not to mention the safety measures than need to be taken. Quote: "The U.S. is beginning to adopt 1000V arrays, and throughout the ind= ustry the use of 1500V and even 2000V arrays is being considered as a means of reducing system costs in large commercial and util= ity-scale PV plants." (AE Solar Energy). Interesting world we live in. -Andries -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: piclist-bounces@mit.edu [mailto:piclist-bounces@mit.edu] Namens Richar= d R. There is a lot of current available but since= there is only 12 volts the danger is no greater than working around an aut= omotive battery. You can melt rings and tools but it won't shock you unless= you are wet. The danger is on the output of the inverter. Once the inverte= r is disconnected from the solar panel array you are reasonably safe. > Thanks, > rich! > -- http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/chang= e your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclis= t --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
