However, encrypting all the files on your computer should take a some time, so if you're paying attention you can probably tell something is not right. If you do as I do, alternate between two backup drives that are only plugged in while backing up, you'll at least only lose your current work. Shared drives on a network are probably at risk as well. Sounds like surfing the web with a phone or tablet is the right way to live. No web browsing with your development machine!
