This thread has been subverted to a top/bottom posting discussion. As it's in [OT] I'll leave the subject line unchanged to reach those who have not yet wandered off. Top / bottom / middle posting has been much discussed on this list on various past occasions. Anyone who cares about the subject and the opinions of others and is not just intent on putting a well-formed and intractable single point of view would probably find it useful to search the list archives for the thread titled "[OT] Top posting and the list" in April 2011. 17 posts - not too hard to wade through. This is both educational and a good demonstration of how widely opinions vary on the subject - and why. It is unlikely [tm] that anything has happened in the past 3 years that would definitively sway the then ebb and flow of battle towards a final single conclusion. Those who advocate top posting and who can stand the heat would find Olin's useful well reasoned and typically provocative response aggravating if not mind changing. Those who advocate bottom posting would perhaps find Herbert's also well reasoned and less provocative argument informative. EVERYONE who fails to trim out old material (as many who should know better fail to do) should read Wouter's short and useful comment AND do what he suggests. Anyone who thinks the subject is cut and dried and settled and that there is a logical one size fits all answer may not have listened to all the arguments and may not have a good appreciation of the variability of human nature.
