Why do you need an HDMI display?

There have been a couple of projects linked to from here using SPI interfac=
e 2 or 3 inch displays with a Raspberry Pi. IIRC one of them is a kickstart=
er project. From memory all the ones I have come across had a display drive=
r provided for the SPI.
