Yes. I travel a lot, and while I'm not usually carrying all my stuff with me, I think about it. First off, consider shipping some things ahead. Yes, it costs money. But if you know where you're going to be and what you'll need there, and ship ground, it's not that bad. I know your business does a lot of shipping, so you are probably already getting really good rates from the carriers. What I've done is sort of a combination. I have certain gear of mine staged in various locations, so it can be shipped. For electronics specific stuff, I've moved to lighterweight versions of my tools. True, my USB logic analyzer isn't the best thing in the world, but it's pretty decent for when I need things on the road. Same with a USB scope. For soldering I have a smaller station that isn't as nice as my workbench unit, but it's a lot lighter. Basically, it's always a compromise. I am currently traveling in Europe and have a few kilos in one of my bags of dev tools, project boards, and programmers that I should be working on. Unfortunately I find European architecture rather interesting...
