Certainly anything in the cloud should be encrypted, although I would avoid proprietary compression/encryption schemes since these things tend to disappear. If you stick with popular, FOSS tools you can count on years or decades of warning before they disappear. But keep in mind that web providers, even very large ones, tend to disappear without warning.
