I program them with an ICD3. The chip is programmed with my TCP/IP
bootloader that then uploads the application firmware. Self programming
is perfectly acceptable for these devices.
This process is working well for several years and just now the problems
started. Before the existence of the ICD3 I used an ICD2 and no problems
also.
