Playing with my Microstick II, which uses 3.3 volt PICs. I need to interface to the 5 volt world at times. The 24F parts, for example, will allow 5 volts on most digital inputs, and provide an open-drain for outputs which will handle 5 volts. I expect this is OK for most things (such as connecting a MAX232 for serial I/O). But if I need higher speeds for output, the open drain with a resistor may be too slow (I've not yet done any calculations). What is the normal way of handling this sort of thing? Are there 3.3 volt to 5 volt buffer chips, etc? --=20 Larry Bradley =20 Orleans (Ottawa) Canada=20 --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
