I have a question and I am wondering if anyone can help me. I am trying to disassemble an E-I power transformer. The laminations were varnished after the transformer was built. I was able to remove the I pieces but I can't get the E pieces apart.... Some transformers are dipped in a hot bath of resin (varnish, enamel, or something similar) after they are wound to prevent buzzing. If that is your case, you could use some sort of solvent to dissolve the resin or heat it so it becomes liquid again. My late father wound and rewound transformers for a living, and this was=20 his trick. Over his life time he would have done hundreds if not=20 thousands this way. p --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
