The 24F chips I have used can go up to 32MHz with the internal oscillator a= nd=20 4*PLL (not the USB PLL). That is an instruction and peripheral clock up to= =20 16MHz. The PIC32MX1xx/2xx can go up to 50MHz with the internal oscillator.
