I remember memory cards with core memory (largest one was sixteen kilobits)= .. If my memory does not fails me, there were two sub boards of 8 kbits, one= on each side. the front panel had everything needed to boot, and to write to the memory w= ith one switch and one lamp per bit. We used to play with new cards without OS. So we would enter code from the = front panel to read from the tape reader, then we could then load the boots= trap and the OS from perforated tape. Pat of my final project for the Master degree was to design a real time clo= ck for the 1130, because the one from IBM was outrageously expensive; time = was displayed with 7 segment green fluorescent tubes, that were looking bet= ter than old redish Nixies.
