More than a decade ago I had a server fail with an unreadable hard drive. I put the drive in a freezer overnight and the next day it was readable just long enough for me to make a clone. (Wrap it in a towel or something to insulate it for reading.) The clone had a few errors but for the most part = I had everything I needed.
