Is it the CA-5 adapter you need? (it's the only one with pogo pins on the
connector that I could see)

If all else fails couldn't you just make a couple of dummy cells with
contacts so you can feed 3v into the battery contacts?  You'd have to modif=
y
the battery door to allow the cable to exit, but that seems a reasonable
compromise compared to buying a new GPS.
