Topic is dead :( :( Here's what I have tried: 1: Removed the heat sink and glued it back on with heavily reinforced=20 with ground glass to give it a high density which I would think=20 increases heat transfer. The old glue didn't look that good of contact:=20 No power 2: Had a 3.3 volt auto power plug with 5' cable, connected it to the old=20 GPS cable, using 2 layers of heat shrink overall with RTV inside=20 everywhere. Had been reluctant to go this way due to harsh physical=20 environment. The one vehicle has 3 outlets under front of passenger's=20 seat. Aren't these little vehicles wonderful when trying to find a spot=20 to mount something extra. :( No power. Took connection apart. While=20 working on things, the old cable shorted internally making it scrap, and=20 without that the GPS is usable only with (2) "AA" batteries. The unit=20 end of the cable has a very special locking connector with pogo sticks.=20 I don't see any way to open that up and slice a new cable. A couple of=20 months ago, I did an exhaustive search for the auto adapter, some=20 appeared in stock but when talking to the supplier, they haven't seen=20 one for a couple of years. Not good when driving. The Old Lowrance Expedition C has color, earth and water contours, even=20 the smallest streams, and roads with names, and find an address anywhere=20 in the USA. It fits in a shirt pocket we have used it for driving and=20 hiking. We did have the aviation version when we flew with the full FAA=20 navigation database. Going to miss it. Need to find a replacement=20 (without the aviation features) Thanks everyone for your input. :) --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
