The chase starts at "*the chase*":

If all goes as planned I'll be going to India on March 8th, leaving India
at the end of March for a few days in Singapore and on April 2nd either
turning right and returning to NZ (probable) or turning left for a
quickishsortie into China (less likely (Maker
Faire / Shenzhen / ...))

There was a time when I wrote reasonably good (I'm told) trip emails and
posted photos. I've become less good at getting to email missives in recent
years and the ability to post photos to eg a Facebook album (that can be
accessed without a FB account or having to sell your soul or even identify
yourself) somewhat changes the dynamics of photo posting.

If anyone wants to be on the receiving end of missives from a few weeks
canter through India and perhaps a few days in Nepal (and a ricochet off
Singapore) please

         Send an email to NZpictures@gmail.com
         Place email address for missives to be sent to in the first line
         Your name in second line is useful. (name not obligatory)
         Subject line as above useful but not essential.

             sending from the same account as missive destination is useful
but not essential.

Photos will happen one way or other -  probably via a webpage - see at end.
emails may be limited to mainly text with picture links. tbd.

I've never 'blogged'. Maybe this is the time to start.


*Notes:*

My wife will be working in India and I'm visiting - with arrival timed to
allow visiting Taj Mahal at full moon.
This is notionally a 'holiday' but I want to get a feel for the practical
realities of India wrt lighting, energy supply, water supply ... for the
less privileged. Much is written on all this and I've read and looked at
much. Seeing how that translates in reality will be interesting. I am
somewhat "at the cusp" of what to do in the next while and this may have
some influence on things. Or not.

At a normal rate I should manage about 30,000 photos all up (!)
You'd only see a fraction and many would not interest many people.
(Roads, buildings, wiring, food, vehicles, animals, plants, ...)(Some will
understand this well :-) )
Also many of people and "life"

No guarantees re volume, frequency, quality etc.

So far hoped for route is:

March 9th:
Chennai (Madras), Bangalore, Goa, Pune ... Pune is 'base camp' - my wife
will be working there training people to take her job :-).
[Chennai to Pune legs by train and bus]

Trip from Pune:
Pune, New Delhi, Agra (Taj Mahal), New Delhi*, Pune.
[P-ND-P by air. ND-Agra-ND by car]

If  possible , break above journey at ND on return and fly New Delhi -
Kathmandu - New Delhi (from $200 return!) & then ...?

Mumbai will happen (a few hours from Pune)

Kolkota if I can manage.

Home Mumbai - Singapore (short stop) - NZ.
China? (probably not)

Some longish bus and train journeys may happen if things work out.
If I and my camera(s) survive, some interesting output should happen.

The challenges of this sort of trip are probably appreciated, but if anyone
wishes to regale me with advice or warnings or whatever, feel free.
On-list if felt appropriate but offlist may be better if too too OT.
