I know the type well. He seldom achieves the goals he pursues. OTH, sometimes he wins. He is a hacker at heart and dabbles in areas=20 without appropriate training. He wins due to his personal motivation and=20 high energy level. If you look at some of the world's most successful=20 people their objectives were jokes to the learned experts. Edison, Ford,=20 the Wright Brothers are a few. When I run across someone who is chasing=20 shadows I offer my knowledge and experience if they will listen but I=20 don't discourage their questioning the status quo. IBM built and sold a=20 copier industry using principles that Xerox felt were not worth a patent. IBM ridiculed the PC market until they just could not ignore it. The=20 American automotive industry had to have disk brakes, seat belts and=20 fuel injection forced upon them. This fellow just wants a chance to prove the calculations are too=20 conservative. I spend a lot of time working on junk or adapting something to a new=20 use. I hear the question a lot: "Why do you waste your time on that?=20 New ones are cheap!" Usually the real answer is that I am using the=20 opportunity to learn something or satisfy my curiosity.
