I don't think the last message went through because of the attachment, so h= ere it is again. You might still be hitting the ceiling anyway due to the pulsed nature of t= he input. Have you tried looking at the current waveform with an oscillosco= pe? That way you will know for sure that the current is actually going up w= ithout an increase in apparent brightness. The only other thing I could sug= gest is putting another capacitor across the LED and possibly using a diode= bridge to get full wave rectification.
