Agreed, I recently bought a copy of Delphi 4 to use on Win7, from eBay, and=
 it works really well. Cost me GBP40, around US$60, which I felt was reason=
able value, considering what it allows one to do, and it doesn't have a lot=
 of the silly 'call home' licensing that much later products do.

There are a number of Delphi books available as free downloads from the web=
, especially if you look for Delphi 5 or 6 versions, which are not that dif=
ferent to Delphi 4 for most things.

I have also downloaded a copy of Lazarus, but haven't tried it yet. Looks u=
seful, especially if wishing to make multi-platform releases.
