While it often happens, it isn't mandatory. They are different name spaces. dlep14.itg.ti.com does resolve in the MX name space of the domain name resolver system, so an e-mail to that address is likely to be delivered to a real server. Another way to assess legitimacy is to read the mail headers to see what servers it passed through.
