In the olden days when we took pictures on film, I had a darkroom in an unheated basement. I used a piece of standard 240V baseboard heater with an inline 240V double pole thermostat. The thermostat was mounted in the "usual" wall position. The primary concern was to insulate behind the thermostat so that heat loss through the wall would not cause the thermosta= t to trigger longer than it should. It worked very well and was reasonably cheap. I think about 2 deg hysteresis worked well for me.
