A remote mobile phone could be set up to answer a call automatically. If
mailbox is empty, let some crystal radio receiver to entertain the mobile
microphone with one station, otherwise let the variable capacitor to shoot
another station.

You may wish to try some PIC over it, or even let the FORTH (or other high
level language) be with it to enhance the experience.
