Good day to all. I've got a bunch of boards with PIC16F677 on board and I need to=20 re-program them with new code. This normally wouldn't be a problem -=20 we built many years ago a little 'booster' board that sits on top of=20 a PICstart Plus programmer. This has high-current buffers for Vdd,=20 Vpp, PGC & PGD. It has worked well for many years. I got told today that it has started killing the PICs that it gets=20 connected to. The guys in the shop had a look at it and can't find=20 the problem. I'll have a look at it tomorrow but in the meantime, I=20 have a bunch of boards that need re-programming first thing tomorrow mornin= g. This little buffer card was purpose-built for a project that has=20 really-low-value resistors on PGC & PGD (820R). However, the boards=20 that I need to re-program tomorrow have higher-value resistor loads=20 on those pins. I'm just looking at the schematic: PGC has a 1k=20 resistor isolation resistor that feeds a 100n capacitor to=20 ground. Both PGC & PGD also have a red LED (1.7V) in series with a=20 1k resistor to ground. MCLR has a 4k7 resistor to ground. Total current required on the Vdd=20 line is on the order of 1 or 2 mA. Question: do any of the following PIC debuggers have decent (10mA=20 drive) on the PGC & PGD pins? I've got: ICD2 ICD3 PICkit 2 PICkit 3 Real ICE Picstart Plus I know that the Picstart Plus does not have much pin current drive at=20 all. However, I don't know about the others. I'll mess around tomorrow morning but I was hoping that someone here=20 might know if any of the above units have at least 10mA drive=20 capability on the PGC & PGD pins.
