Yes Wouter, I forgot about the disclosure thing. I can say that I ordered s= ome rechargeable Lithium button cells from them last month (first order wit= h them in ages). I had to say what they were for. Also had a minicircuits o= rder delayed by a few days while a minicircuits guy from the UK tracked me = down to get clarification as to what specifically I needed an FM notch filt= er for. Apparently the company were not happy that I'd just filled in 'rese= arch purposes' & got this guy to follow up.=20 I've only noticed this being a problem recently, but I don't buy components= much from US suppliers so maybe its been going on a while. I must admit to= not really seeing how this helps with security in any way. After all if pe= ople were going to use parts supplied for nefarious purposes, they would no= t likely declare their true intent. It must be a nightmare for companies to= have to follow up & document this, particularly for small orders. However, like it or not, I guess we must deal with it...... Subject: Re: [OT] Ordering from US/EU suppliers > I'd also be surprised if Digikey can't deliver to you as well. My problem with DigiKey is that they don't have an EC presence, hence - I get a bill for duties & VAT, which is not that much of a problem in its= elf, but is slows the delivery (and sometimes I have to pay cash at the doo= r, and sorry, we don't carry change), and they add a handling fee which can= be much more than the original fees - after commiting myself to the order, DigiKey will come to me with questio= ns about how exactly I will be using certain components. But I have no idea= how they will be used, I want to re-sell the components!=20 This would not be much of a problem if I could see up front for which compo= nents this is required (32-bit processors??), but there seems to be no way. so for me, DigiKey is out of the question.
