A flight down the NZ Southern Alps  is extremely impressive.

People living in Christchurch (on the coast) get so used to the mountains
that they hardly see them but from a coastal high pount in Christchurch
looking inland you get almost 180 degrees of snow covered ranges stretching
into the far distance to North and south. (Multi shot panorama somewhere
