Laptop body to display flexible cables are very variable in quality.
As with the hinge proper, there should be enough expertise by now to make
them reliable over say the 10,000 cycles of a moderate daily user - or even
the abuse received from eg a travelling product demonstrator. 50,000 cycles
should be "doable enough" and would address unrealistically long lifetimes
or high usage.
50,000 / 2 years =3D 68 cycles/day (!)
/5 years =3D 27/day
Once an hour 24/7 ~=3D 5 years.

I have seen hard-drives and motherboards which did not last until
lunch-time on day one - why should a hinge do better ? :-)
