You keep saying LTC (linear time code), which is normally recorded in an au= dio track, but it's much more likely that video equipment would produce VITC (vertical interval time code), which carries the same information in the veritcal blanking interval of an analog video signal. It is encoded in a manner similar to (but distinct from) closed-captioning. It isn't really all that difficult to decode VITC; there are many projects on the web that describe how.
