In C18, I use:
rom unsigned char eedata_values1[] =3D {0x2B, 0x8D, 0b0};
rom unsigned char eedata_values2[] =3D {0x43, 0x27};

etc, without any variables associated with them.  There must be =20
something similar in XC8.
