Hi, I am trying to use DS2782 as a fuel gauge for my 850 mAh Li-Po battery. I a= m able to interface to the fuel gauge and read data from the fuel gauge. I = am not able to understand its operation correctly. My goal is to estimate t= he remaining battery capacity. The voltage of the battery is available as a 16 bit number and I am able to= read that through the I2C interface(I haven't verified the measured voltag= e using a DMM yet). The datasheet provides parameters like remaining capaci= ty in % as an 8 bit number. If I try to read that, I always get a 0.=A0 There is an application note=A0that explains how to use the battery gauge. = They talk about cell characterization where they explain that the gauge nee= ds to go through a learning cycle.=A0 I am not using the gauge in an evaluation kit but a small board that I desi= gned. I am sure that someone might have used a similar gauge in their appli= cation. Is it as simple as subjecting the battery through a charge and disc= harge cycle? The datasheet explains a lot of parameters and I am quite confused about us= ing the gauge.
