Some issues in your reasoning:

a) Rio Grande is part of the border between U.S.A. and Mexico, so
something thrown across it will still land in the North America.
b) Between North America and South America used to be Central America.
It seems that now what was called Central America is considered part of
North America, so the border between North America and South America may
indeed exist between Panama and Colombia.

So, unless we consider Central America as part of North America,
throwing an ICBWR from North America to South America would be an
impressive feat.
