To all: 1: This is a one off, house HVAC application, and cost of a few diodes=20 and installation is minor 2: The driver PLC power supply is robust and not an issue. The PLC (Tri-=20 PLC) has been in service for 7 years, and has numerous relays with the=20 1n4004 diodes across the relays and has been trouble free. :) I'm adding=20 a controlled area to the PLC. 3: Mounting the diodes at the PLC terminal strips is somewhat more=20 difficult but not impossible 4: I have been using 1n4004 diodes for this application, it, just that=20 this was the first time I had relays in parallel 5: The contacts are switching 24 VAC mainly, but 120 vac not out of the=20 question, don't think I want a diode there :) 6: Mounting the diodes at each relay is easy, inexpensive, I'll go that=20 way. I was thinking more the other direction where the extras diodes=20 could be a problem. 7: The long cable is CAT-5, the twisted pairs should minimize the aerial=20 effects. Thanks again. :) --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
