Greetings all. Just starting to look into developing portable=20 rechargeable battery powered devices. The current requirement seems to be based around a 6v 1500mAh NiMH=20 battery pack. The load requires a regulated 5v supply until the battery reaches a=20 sensible disconnect voltage. I expect that a suitable boost/buck=20 switching regulator would be able to provide 5v even after the battery=20 falls some way below 5v. Questions: a) where to find info on how to treat NiMH batteries with the best care,=20 in terms of charge/discharge parameters (supplier's tech info is sparse), b) anyone got a favourite means of assuring 5v from a 6v rechargeable=20 battery? Traditional LDO linear regulator probably not wise.
