Build a simple spot welder. I have one using a small DC power supply of
about 24 volts, an LM317 regulator with an adjustment pot, 1.5 farads of
capacitor, a Ford solenoid, and a couple of sharpened pieces of copper
for electrodes.

Here's a generic Ford solenoid, it's just a high current relay:
