Hi all, what's the best way to wire AA or 18650 size batteries together?

I could try soldering for the Ni-x types where safety is less of an
issue. But for the unprotected Li-ion cells, and if battery damage is a
concern, I don't think soldering would be okay.

Is there some kind of an electrically conductive adhesive available? Or
another way to go about it?

Making an enclosure with battery springs is not possible.
