Good day to all. My buddy is looking for a small remote control unit that he can carry=20 on his belt. He wants to control Winamp that is running on his=20 Windows computer. Because he wants to use this device both inside=20 his home as well as in the yard, he figures that a remote control=20 that communicates via WiFi might work well for him. He has speakers=20 at several locations inside his house as well as nice outdoor=20 speakers that cover his yard nicely. All he needs now is some way to=20 control Winamp (pause / restart playback, skip ahead to beginning of=20 next song). He currently has good WiFi coverage in any of the areas=20 that he would want to use the remote control. The remote itself can be either simple or complex. Simple would be=20 only a couple buttons with no display. Complex can be anything with=20 several (or lots of) buttons and with or without a display. Obviously, there would need to be some form of application running on=20 his computer that would map the commands from the remote control into=20 the software program of his choice (Winamp in this case). Is anyone aware of either something commercially available *or* a=20 well-documented DIY-type project? I was looking at the remote control for a GoPro Hero 3 - this seems=20 like a possibility but I would need to come up with something that=20 runs on his computer so as to actually interpret and map the button=20 presses to commands.
