I have tried 3G in the UK > and Ireland too, well, the good thing was that you could use SkyPe (voice= ) VOIP on DSL is as good as the old analog phone line that we had here in SGP too. Though initially the old 2wire DSL box was not as reliable and could hang once a month, and bandwidth allocation was not as good. In my workshop which is a non-residential address that has to pay a huge premium over residential address for any Telco subscription (analog, DSL, cable, fiber) , I resisted and setup my communication need through a mobile broadband stick on an Aztech router with 3G capability, and connect a Cisco LinkSys PAP2T box to give me VOIP line. Placement of the 3G dongle for best signal strength becomes very important. I can even fax over the VOIP line. Quality of the VOIP is not great at times, but mostly OK or just OK.
