Another option would be to
- with the Gmail account create a Google group visible only for you (
*yourgroupname*@googlegroups.com);
- create a filter applied to all incoming mail:
Matches: to:(piclist@mit.edu)
Do this: Forward to *yourgroupname*@googlegroups.com

The received postings will be visible through the group.
