I can imagine why that sort of result may be seen, but I'd suspect that in many practical situations it would tend to be swamped by other treatment. ie may tend towards being true of a battery in pure float use when maintained at optimum voltage etc, or whatever. Do you have a reference for that and any insights as to confounding or swamping effects and to which chemistries or construction methods it applies*?
