At this point (I haven't read the complete thread yet), no one has=20
mentioned Python, there area number of beginners Python books available=20
that have games written in Python ranging form bog standard Hangman to a=20
Pizza throwing game. Python works in Windows as well as in Linux.

There has been a proliferation of beginners Python books recently due I=20
imagine to the Raspberry Pi and similar platforms.
