I've heard good=20 things about Construct 2 (https://www.scirra.com/) and Multimedia Fusion=20 2 (http://www.clickteam.com/website/world/multimedia-fusion-2). These sorts of thing (or Scratch, suggested elsewhere in the thread) are=20 likely to keep the attention of a younger person whilst slowly teaching=20 them some programming. And because programming is all about working out=20 what you want the magic box to do, not just typing code, they should=20 hopefully provide a headstart in that area also.
