Back when I had a project that was using lots of encoders I looked over=20
the chips that had it in hardware and was disappointed that microchip=20
didn't support it in more chips.  One peripheral they don't seem to want=20
to include in some of the other lines, though the new chips with the CLC=20
can be used to implement one in hardware.
We ended up using the Avago chips.
