Try a FASTON tab, I believe both AMP (42095-1) and Keystone make these. I= 've used them before, they solder flat on the surface of the board and have= a .25" tab for faston type connectors. Using 4 of these in each corner yo= u could also take advantage of passing power and ground on them. The trick= is the mating side, I did a quick look but didn't see any PCB mount female= s. -----Original Message----- From: piclist-bounces@mit.edu [mailto:piclist-bounces@mit.edu] On Behalf Of= Neil Sent: Tuesday, June 11, 2013 5:38 PM To: piclist@mit.edu Subject: [EE] PCB-solderable fastener? Hi all, I need to attach a PCB to a textured plastic panel without any visible fast= eners in the front. The only double-sided tape I can find that would handl= e the temps (say up to 200 deg-F) has a noticeable thickness, so leaves a g= ap that takes away from an otherwise clean appearance. The PCB is a just a couple touch-pads and will have a thin vinyl decal over= it, though which even PEMS-type studs would show. Ideally, I'm looking fo= r some type of screw stud that I can solder onto a pad on the back of the P= CB, or perhaps some thin springy piece of metal that would easily accept so= lder, which I can bend to into a clip of some type. The only springy metal I know is spring steel and quite sure it's not solde= rable -- at least not with they usual 63/37 or 60/40 stuff. I need to do a= bout 100 of these for now, so I'm ideally looking for something off-the she= lf. Any clues to workable materials, or perhaps a solder that would adhere= to spring steel?
