I would want to know why your original Microchip part isn't working as you =
expect.

I assume you have a pair of 1uF chip capacitors as illustrated in the datas=
heet. Looked at AN765 to see what it says but doesn't seem to shed any ligh=
t on the situation.

Are you sure you are not going into thermal shutdown? I know 68mW isn't muc=
h, but ...
