NB: I love silicone rubber. I think its marvellous stuff as long as it is not used outside it's "performance envelope". ________________ > The setup works fine. Anything that has worked well for you for 5 years sounds like it is suited to the task :-). Some other task it may fail at. As long as none of those are ever your ones you are doing well :-). It did not say (AFAICS) on the page that you cited that it was neutral cure so I assume it wa sacetic cure - but maybe not. If so that is enough to cause equipment fatalities in some contexts - and none at all in others. > The ones installed use wifi and > solar to relay farm information. > Silicone works fine as a sealant, I > use the GE silicone. But, it's still not water vapor proof. Humidity inside a si rubber sealed box or blob will track ambient with a modest delay. As long as it bonds void free to surfaces it will keep the liquid water down tp the %-solubility in the SR concerned. Which varies with product. > The setup is not under water, and at a depth of 2 > feet the pressure isn't a concern. Above the water table is good :-). Some sealants would allow use with net hydrostatic external pressure and liquid present. Long term SR tends not to be one of these. > The silicone used is this: > http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/GE-Window-and-Door-Sealant-4UH03 As above - it it works for you its excellent. Others *MAY* find that in cases that seem similar it fails badly because some critical but inobvious line as been crossed over. > > Mark > > -- > http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive > View/change your membership options at > http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
