Another option is CDMA off of cell towers. You can receive the time/date=20
signal without
a subscription as towers routinely broadcast  tower ID, time, and date .=20
Another option for
really remote areas is satellite, not GPS, but weather satellites. They=20
can be received
using fairly cheap hardware as shown here:

Another option is airports, most broadcast time signals and then there=20
are weather services
like Noaa weather radio .
