It was balanced and had a mercury switch=20 on the part in the box. The outside part was a fine mesh screen. When the screen was dry the switch was closed and the mister was on. The=20 weight of the water tipped the rod and the switch opened. As the water on the screen dried the rod would rise and turn on the mister. store We used in our cutting beds and never lost a plant due to insufficient=20 moisture.
