Hi Bob: I've used the receiver that has two boxes on a horizontal tube where the re= ar box is vertical and the front box is=20 horizontal. The transmitter is connected to the cable/pipe where it's above ground. This system not only allows following the pipe but determining it's depth b= y tilting the receiver to 45 degrees then=20 moving off the center to maximize the signal. The distance from the center= line is now the depth of the pipe. When=20 there's crossed pipes/cables the tricky part if figuring out which is the o= ne you want. You can find "underground cable locator" on eBay and probably can rent a fa= ncy one.
