Client has an audio track on a CD recorded in Dolby 5.1 for this project, s= o the first pass to just "get some audio playing" was to use the FTDI VMUSI= C2, but the audio was moved to MP3 format and L/R stereo output. It works = but.....he wants to play the track in its original surround format, so I ha= ve some choices 1. Put an IR transmitter in front of his amplifier and send commands to pla= y the CD or from a USB stick 2. Get a stand alone player that has a serial interface (hopefully) to play= the track on demand and has digital (S/PDIF) to feed to the amplifier 3. Find some sort of embedded audio player that can accept serial commands. 4. Use a CD player that has S/PDIF coaxial out and interface with a PIC to = control it. I'd be happy with a stand alone player as long as I can just send some = sort of command to start playing the one track that's on the media. I don'= t want to have to hack into the box in the event it fails...they just put a= replacement in, plug in the serial cable..back in business. If the player= could be configured to auto play on powerup...I can control that easily. This is a smallish run product, 100 or so per year. So just looking for anyone that's had experience with such a device. This e-mail (and any attachments) is confidential and may be privileged.
