FWIW one of the BEST things you can do to improve your photography is shoot in RAW. Shooting in RAW gives you SO much more flexibility in post to improve your shot, the difference is night and day. Why I mention this is because when you shoot in RAW white balance doesn't matter anymore. You set WB in post when shooting RAW, so what you set in the camera doesn't matter anymore. Even without shooting RAW, I recommend you get comfortable setting WB manually. You will be much happier with the results.
